Diagnosis Day - 12-9-22

Today sucked and I think I am still in a bit of shock - even though we saw the words "metastatic disease" floating around on MRI reports.

Our suspicions were confirmed. The mass in his liver is cancer and it started in his colon, which means he has stage IV colon cancer that metastasized to his liver.

Things moved fast today and MSK (Memorial Sloan Kettering) was able to get us on the books with a GI oncologist today via a video chat. She suggested 3 months of chemotherapy to see how the tumors respond. We don't know how surgery plays into this as still need to meet with the rest of the oncology team.

Her plan is to have Zach get a port for his chemo on Wednesday the 14th and have chemo the same day. She wants to get things going ASAP.

I know people want to help and bring food. However, Zach is overhauling his diet and eating very specific things and the way you can help is by sending Whole Foods gift cards.

I am in awe of how he is handling this and the dedication he has to changing his diet.

Please continue to pray for us during this time.
